Liverpool withdraw bid for £30M Spaniard

The Daily Post reported that Liverpool has pull out of the interest in Valencia’s midfielder after the Los Che outfit demands £30million.

As we all aware, Rafa Benitez is given £20million to spend on new players this summer by the co-owners. Unless, Rafa can offload some of the players in time before Real Madrid and Barcelona enters the bidding war.

Valencia deep in financial crisis with almost £500million in debt need to cut loose of its star players.

"It is true that we were asking about the situation with him but we are not happy with the situation now and he will not be a target for us.

"We have to work hard and we are trying to have conversations and trying to progress but it’s not easy to sign any player now.

"The most important thing now is to make progress with the contracts of our own players.

"We are working hard on that because this is our priority." – Rafa Benitez, Daily Post.

Rafa also squashed any speculation on David Silva’s team-mate Raul Albiol. The Valencia defender was not on Liverpool shopping list despite speculation suggesting otherwise.

"He is another good player but he is not our target," – Rafa Benitez, Daily Post.

Liverpool will not do business with Valencia, if they do not reduce the transfer fee for David Silva.

Chelsea to hijack Liverpool transfer target with £17M bid

Rafa Benitez and Liverpool better act fast before the next transfer target move elsewhere after Gareth Barry signed for Manchester City on Tuesday.

Chelsea boss, Roman Abramovich is reported to be welcoming back fullback Glen Johnson from Portsmouth. Chelsea are prepare to re-signing the fullback for £17million.

What can Rafa do with the £20million transfer fund? Clearly £17million for a defender seems overrated. To match the money power Chelsea had, Rafa can throw-in a cash plus player for Johnson. How about £10million plus Andrea Dossena or £13million plus Philipp Degen?

But I’ll doubt Portsmouth would be tempted to accept our offers as a straight cash of £17million from Chelsea seems very hard to resist.

Michael Owen heading back to Merseyside

Newcastle United were relegated and been put up for sales for the second time. It seems like they no longer afforded a £110,000-a-week player in their roster next season.

So, where is Michael really heading to? Liverpool or Everton? Earlier last month, Rafa Benitez has denied Liverpool making a move for Owen.

Since Owen can certainly leave Newcastle on the ‘Bosman’ rule, Everton still need to pay £4million in terms of wages and signing-on fee, which considerably a good buy for them.

Barry joins City

More news on Gareth Barry. The speculation of Barry becoming a Liverpool player is over. He’s officially completed a move to Manchester City yesterday.

Manchester City have confirmed the £12million signing of Gareth Barry from Aston Villa, with the England midfielder penning a five-year deal.

City manager Mark Hughes is banking on the midfielder's experience in the domestic and international arena to take the club to the next level.

"Gareth is widely acknowledged as one of the top midfielders in the Premier League and that is a recommendation in itself.

"When players of his quality become available then you have to be in the market for them so we are absolutely delighted that we have been able to conclude this deal.

"The experience required to compete with the best in the Premier League is vital.

This transfer which came as a surprise to all of us. Barry earlier been reported he’d like to join a team with Champions League football, signed for a club which has the brightest future in challenging the top four clubs in England next season.

I think this transfer has been materialised due to the fact that City was able to offer Barry a huge pay rise. City have not even qualified for next season's revamped Europa League. Who could afford to missed out on a £80,000-a-week salary?

Liverpool trail in race for £25M forward

The uncertainty of an Argentine forward has led to clubs from England and Spain vying for his signature. With limited transfer fund, Rafa Benitez is unwilling to succumb to the demand. Hence, Manchester City with million of pounds at their disposal went ahead of this race.

But the player’s future at Manchester United will be decided by tomorrow.

The Times says Kia Joorabchian, whose companies own the economic rights to Carlos Tevez, is expected to meet David Gill, United chief executive, tomorrow to resolve the situation. If United agree to pay the £25.5million required to secure the permanent signing of Tevez, the player will have a decision to make.

Why? He wasn’t happy with United’s attempts to drive his transfer fees down and has been a benchwarmer for the biggest football final in Rome last month.

Manchester City more than willing to pay the asking price and would also be able to offer Tevez vastly inflated wages. Although Liverpool fell short behind, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also interested in bolstering their squad this summer.

Liverpool swoop for £17M Serie A striker

They have rejected Liverpool’s offer for the sensational Argentine striker once. Now the player’s agent, Alejandro Mazzoni said Napoli are willing to sell if Liverpool increase the fees.

Liverpool not selling their midfield maestro

The rumour linking Xabi Alonso to Juventus, AC Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester City has been resurfaced again. This time, Rafa Benitez has squashed reports in the Spanish media that an agreement has been reached with Real Madrid.
