Rumour Mill: Blackpool keen on Liverpool defender

Blackpool want to loan another Liverpool youngster in the form of Danny Wilson, according to The Daily Mail.

Manager Ian Holloway has already brought in midfielder Jonjo Shelvey from Anfield in a similar deal and signed Gerardo Bruna and Thomas Ince from Liverpool over the summer.

The former Rangers defender has barely figured for Liverpool since moving to Anfield in 2010 and only has one appearance to his name this campaign.

Lack of game time saw the youngster dropped from the senior Scotland squad for this month's crunch Euro 2012 qualifiers and he is determined to get things back on track.

Scotland international Wilson, 19, is also being chased by Leeds and Nottingham Forest.

Now, manager Ian Holloway is keen on defender Wilson and Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish will be more than happy to see his fellow Scot pick up some playing time at Bloomfield Road.

Liverpool defender pondering life away from Anfield

Teenager hungry for action after falling out of favour on Merseyside. Out-of-favour Liverpool youngster Danny Wilson is open to spending time out on loan if it means playing regular first-team football.

The 19-year-old defender notched up eight appearances for the Reds in all competitions after making his debut in the Carling Cup last September.

But action has been limited so far this term, with former Rangersman Wilsonhaving made just one outing back in August.

Danny Wilson Lack of game time saw the youngster dropped from the senior Scotland squad for this month's crunch Euro 2012 qualifiers and he is determined to get things back on track.

"There's nothing worse than not being able to go out on the pitch on a Saturday and play," Wilson told Sky Sports News.

"But I need to just keep my head down and hopefully I'll either get some game time at Liverpool or get the chance to go somewhere else and try and prove myself."

Liverpool's fortunes have turned around drastically over the past 12 months and they currently sit fifth in the Premier League, marking them as possible contenders for a UEFA Champions League spot.

But Wilson insists they are not getting ahead of themselves, adding: "It just depends how the next couple of months go.

"You can be realistic, you can change your aims and where you want to be, but obviously the higher we finish the better.

"We want to get back in the Champions League, obviously, but first and foremost we need to make sure we're in a good position to do that."

While Wilson is not involved in Scotland's final qualifier in Spain on Tuesday night, he believes Craig Levein's men have every chance of causing an upset to clinch the final play-off spot in Group I.

"We beat France twice a couple of years ago and nobody gave us a chance of doing that," he said.

"Spain, being European and world champions, means it's a big, big ask of the players. But I feel if we go out and we can implement what we want to do on the park then I think Scotland have got a great chance."

Blackpool wants Liverpool central defender in Adam deal

Having missed out on Connor Wickham to Sunderland and Gael Clichy to Manchester City. Liverpool has intensified its chase for more new recruits for the coming season. Charlie Adam has been the prime target since the January transfer window. Blackpool are trying to compensate the loss of Adam by signing more players on loan.

Blackpool captain Adam has told the Seasiders of his desire to leave for Anfield this summer but manager Ian Holloway is hoping to soften the blow by acquiring three players on loan.

Danny Wilson After Stephen Darby and Jonjo Shelvey were proposed as two of the possible makeweights, 19-year-old Wilson is the third young Red to be linked with a move to Bloomfield Road as part of the package for Adam.

Blackpool would still be looking at an £8million fee for Adam's signature but an agreement to release the Liverpool trio on season long loans would speed up the protracted transfer of the Scot to Merseyside.

Blackpool appear to have already found a replacement for Adam with yesterday's signing of attacking midfielder Bojan Djordjic from Hungarian side Videoton on a free transfer.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is understood to be willing to loan out Scotland international Wilson - a £5million signing from Rangers last summer - after his former club expressed a desire to have him back at Ibrox for next season.

Liverpool had hoped the signing of Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson earlier this month would have kick-started a rush of transfer activity but reported targets Phil Jones and Connor Wickham have gone elsewhere - the acquisition of Adam has therefore taken on greater urgency.

Ipswich striker Wickham, who emerged as one of the summer's hottest properties and was on the Anfield wish-list, signed for Sunderland yesterday in an £8.1million deal with the fee potentially rising as high as £12million with various add-ons.

Reds captures Ibrox’s starlet

On Wednesday news, Liverpool FC confirmed they have agreed a deal in principle for the transfer of Danny Wilson from Glasgow Rangers. Danny Wilson signed a three-year contract at Liverpool after passing a medical.

Danny Wilson The 18-year-old arrives from Glasgow Rangers, established himself in the centre of defence at Rangers last season and landed the Scottish Football Association Young Player of the Year trophy after making 24 appearances for the Ibrox side.

“It's a great feeling to sign for Liverpool. Wherever you go everyone knows Liverpool FC and I am just very happy to be here.

"This is a massive challenge for me. This is one of the best leagues in the world and I will be playing for one of the biggest teams in the world.

"Coming here from Scotland, people may say I might not be ready for this, but that is a challenge I want to put on myself and that's the reason I came here.

"Everyone knows about the history of this football club with 18 league titles.

"It wasn't a difficult decision to come here as Liverpool are not a team who come in for you every day, so I can't wait to get started.

"There were other clubs interested in me who are in the Champions League, but once Liverpool came in for me there was only one team I wanted to go to." Wilson told www.liverpoolfc.tv

Liverpool will pay Rangers £2million up front for the 18-year-old with a further £3million dependent on appearances and add-ons.
