Moores quits Liverpool board

Former Liverpool chairman David Moores has resigned from the Club's Board of Directors. Moores will, however, retain his position as Club Honorary Life President.

David Moores Moores, whose family became one of the richest in Britain with the creation of the Littlewoods empire, took the role of chairman in 1991.

However, with the club in need of increasing investment he sold his majority shareholding to current American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks two years ago.

The move proved to be an unpopular one among fans after the pair borrowed £350million to finance the takeover and then grand plans for a new stadium were continually delayed.

Moores himself admitted last year he felt "heartbroken and let down" by the owners, and his disappearance from the board follows the decision by chief executive Rick Parry - who helped negotiate the takeover with Gillett and Hicks - to step down this summer after 12 years at the club.

Time for the current co-owners to bring out their cheque books. They came with promises of bringing Liverpool Football Club forward but until now we still back tracking, lacks of big-names signing.

So here are my suggestions;

  • David Villa - £45million
  • David Silva - £30million
  • Glen Johnson – £18million
  • Luis Antonio Valencia - £17million

Total spending - £110million

And ship these players out of Anfield;

  • Sebastian Leto - £2million
  • Andrea Dossena - £6million
  • Andriy Voronin - £8million
  • Charles Itandje - £5million
  • Ryan Babel - £8million
  • Alvaro Arbeloa - £8million
  • Jack Hobbs (already sold to Leicester) – undisclosed, estimated around £1.5million
  • another £7million Peter Crouch’s transfer fee

Total recouped - £45.5million

Total funds needed from the co-owners, another £44.5million after minus the promised £20million for Rafa’s spending. If Rafa can convinced Alonso to stay, then let Mascherano go for £35million should increased Rafa’s coffer and the co-owners just need to give Rafa another £9.5million on top of the £20million.

Spending £30million a season are considered the lowest among the big four team in Premiership. Last season, Manchester United was able to splashed £32million on Berbatov alone. It’s time for Rafa to wave his magic wand again, we can trust Rafa to sell his flops soon.

 LIVERPOOL XI

Reina

Johnson – Carragher – Skrtel – Aurelio

Alonso

Valencia – Gerrard – Silva

Villa – Torres

You must be wondering why sell Arbeloa? If the Reds do signs Johnson, Rafa must sell before buy. Philipp Degen won’t attracts any suitable club after he was sidelined for the whole season through injury. Degen would be the cover for right-back position.

The probabilities of Javier Mascherano leaving are very high, if Barcelona are willing to pay £35million for him. But in order for Mascherano to leave, Rafa must keep Alonso. If both of them left, it would be a disaster!

Why bring in Valencia? Well, the Reds hasn’t had an out-and-out right winger for a long time. Dirk Kuyt has done relatively a great job for Liverpool last season but the formation are still unbalance without a proper winger.

David Silva, aren’t we all hope he’ll sign for us? Getting rids of Babel and Dossena has freed up the left-hand side of midfield with Albert Reira as the backup left winger for Silva.

David Villa, the on-form striker at the moment. His partnership with Torres on international level are phenomenal. Linking him up with Torres at Anfield, we are the team to beat next season.

All of these are just my two cents. If Liverpool do get the right players in on time before the season kick-off, the painful and long wait for a league championship will be over soon. Come home number 19.

Liverpool issues an official statement for duo

The growing speculation and rumours from the press linking Liverpool’s midfielders has blown out of proportion. Those stories published on the press has affected the players and therefore Liverpool Football Club has issues an official statement on liverpoolfc.tv website.

Below are the following statement taken from LFC’s website;

"Despite repeated media speculation on the futures of Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano, Liverpool has received no official approach or offer from any club regarding the players.

"Neither is for sale and furthermore Liverpool has no interest in the long list of Spanish based players being linked with a move to Anfield as part of any deal."

Until any concrete offers has been received by Liverpool, so in another words translated from the statement above are “So you f@#*ing idiots, stop printing all those nonsense.”

David Silva, Alvaro Negredo, Alberto Bueno or Samuel Eto’o can stay where there are at the moment as Liverpool are not interested with them at the moment.

Liverpool withdraw bid for £30M Spaniard

The Daily Post reported that Liverpool has pull out of the interest in Valencia’s midfielder after the Los Che outfit demands £30million.

David SilvaAs we all aware, Rafa Benitez is given £20million to spend on new players this summer by the co-owners. Unless, Rafa can offload some of the players in time before Real Madrid and Barcelona enters the bidding war.

Valencia deep in financial crisis with almost £500million in debt need to cut loose of its star players.

"It is true that we were asking about the situation with him but we are not happy with the situation now and he will not be a target for us.

"We have to work hard and we are trying to have conversations and trying to progress but it’s not easy to sign any player now.

"The most important thing now is to make progress with the contracts of our own players.

"We are working hard on that because this is our priority." – Rafa Benitez, Daily Post.

Rafa also squashed any speculation on David Silva’s team-mate Raul Albiol. The Valencia defender was not on Liverpool shopping list despite speculation suggesting otherwise.

"He is another good player but he is not our target," – Rafa Benitez, Daily Post.

Liverpool will not do business with Valencia, if they do not reduce the transfer fee for David Silva.

Do you think David Silva worth £30million? My opinion, he should be tagged in the region of £20-24million.

Liverpool to swoop in on a £20M transfer target

David Silva (center)Today’s most potential transfer rumour that gets likely to materialise this summer is the transfer of David Silva to Liverpool FC.

David Silva has refused to comment on speculation that he will either join Liverpool or Real Madrid this summer.

"I have to be focused first on recovering [from a thigh problem] to be able to help my team and I'm not thinking of anything else,” said Silva, as Valencia prepare to face Athletic Bilbao for a place in the Europa League.

"I don't know anything about the rumours and I insist that I have a contract with Valencia that I wish to fulfil." – David Silva, Setanta Sports.

Silva has been linked with a move to Anfield for the past 18 months now. Certainly, we do need to fine-tune the squad with a player who can linked up the midfield and attack. With Valencia in deep financial crisis, no Champions League football for them next season. The Mestalla outfit will need to sell its prized assets to stay on the business.

A player in the calibre of David Silva wouldn’t want to settled for a second fringed Europa League. To be not involved in the biggest club competition in the world, will most likely to increased his desire to leave La Mestalla.

Will Rafa move in on the £20 million midfielder? Only time will tell, who knows maybe Rafa can picks up a bargain or two from his former employer.
