Barry joins City

Gareth Barry More news on Gareth Barry. The speculation of Barry becoming a Liverpool player is over. He’s officially completed a move to Manchester City yesterday.

Manchester City have confirmed the £12million signing of Gareth Barry from Aston Villa, with the England midfielder penning a five-year deal.

City manager Mark Hughes is banking on the midfielder's experience in the domestic and international arena to take the club to the next level.

"Gareth is widely acknowledged as one of the top midfielders in the Premier League and that is a recommendation in itself.

"When players of his quality become available then you have to be in the market for them so we are absolutely delighted that we have been able to conclude this deal.

"The experience required to compete with the best in the Premier League is vital.

"With Gareth we get the experience of someone who has played week-in, week-out in the hardest league in the world.

"He plays at a level that has an impact on the game and we are thrilled that he is joining us." – Mark Hughes, Tribal Football.

This transfer which came as a surprise to all of us. Barry earlier been reported he’d like to join a team with Champions League football, signed for a club which has the brightest future in challenging the top four clubs in England next season.

I think this transfer has been materialised due to the fact that City was able to offer Barry a huge pay rise. City have not even qualified for next season's revamped Europa League. Who could afford to missed out on a £80,000-a-week salary?

I’m glad the chase is over now.

Liverpool trail in race for £25M forward

Carlos Tevez The uncertainty of an Argentine forward has led to clubs from England and Spain vying for his signature. With limited transfer fund, Rafa Benitez is unwilling to succumb to the demand. Hence, Manchester City with million of pounds at their disposal went ahead of this race.

But the player’s future at Manchester United will be decided by tomorrow.

The Times says Kia Joorabchian, whose companies own the economic rights to Carlos Tevez, is expected to meet David Gill, United chief executive, tomorrow to resolve the situation. If United agree to pay the £25.5million required to secure the permanent signing of Tevez, the player will have a decision to make.

Why? He wasn’t happy with United’s attempts to drive his transfer fees down and has been a benchwarmer for the biggest football final in Rome last month.

Manchester City more than willing to pay the asking price and would also be able to offer Tevez vastly inflated wages. Although Liverpool fell short behind, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also interested in bolstering their squad this summer.

Will Rafa Benitez still want to deal on this little Argentine or he could raise his bid for another Argentine?

Liverpool swoop for £17M Serie A striker

They have rejected Liverpool’s offer for the sensational Argentine striker once. Now the player’s agent, Alejandro Mazzoni said Napoli are willing to sell if Liverpool increase the fees.

“Today there is an offer for the player and I have the impression that the club wants to sell him.

“I would like to stress that Napoli are important to Lavezzi, but we are talking about an English club in the Champions League and, moreover, they are offering him three times what he earns now.” - Alejandro Mazzoni, Vital Football.

Could Ezequiel Lavezzi be the final pieces of the puzzle we’re looking for? Or will he be another Mark Gonzales in the making?

Lavezzi has formed a formidable partnership with Hamsik since joining from San Lorenzo two season ago. The Argentine international has scored 16 goals for Napoli.

Liverpool were not the only English club scouting Lavezzi, Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in the Argentine ace too. So, if Rafa really want to swooped this player, he better make that offer sooner rather than later.

Liverpool not selling their midfield maestro

Xabi Alonso The rumour linking Xabi Alonso to Juventus, AC Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester City has been resurfaced again. This time, Rafa Benitez has squashed reports in the Spanish media that an agreement has been reached with Real Madrid.

"The situation is clear, we do not want to sell our best players and that includes Xabi.

"He had a very good season for us and can be an important player in the future. There is no agreement with Real and we want him to be part of our plans going forward.

"Xabi himself told our club magazine only two weeks ago that he was looking forward to his sixth season as a Liverpool player. Why should he want to leave now?" – Rafa Benitez, Liverpoolfc.tv

Liverpool to swoop in on a £20M transfer target

David Silva (center)Today’s most potential transfer rumour that gets likely to materialise this summer is the transfer of David Silva to Liverpool FC.

David Silva has refused to comment on speculation that he will either join Liverpool or Real Madrid this summer.

"I have to be focused first on recovering [from a thigh problem] to be able to help my team and I'm not thinking of anything else,” said Silva, as Valencia prepare to face Athletic Bilbao for a place in the Europa League.

"I don't know anything about the rumours and I insist that I have a contract with Valencia that I wish to fulfil." – David Silva, Setanta Sports.

Silva has been linked with a move to Anfield for the past 18 months now. Certainly, we do need to fine-tune the squad with a player who can linked up the midfield and attack. With Valencia in deep financial crisis, no Champions League football for them next season. The Mestalla outfit will need to sell its prized assets to stay on the business.

A player in the calibre of David Silva wouldn’t want to settled for a second fringed Europa League. To be not involved in the biggest club competition in the world, will most likely to increased his desire to leave La Mestalla.

Will Rafa move in on the £20 million midfielder? Only time will tell, who knows maybe Rafa can picks up a bargain or two from his former employer.

Liverpool unwanted striker leaves Hertha

Andriy VoroninLiverpool striker Andriy Voronin reportedly ending his loan spell with Hertha Berlin at the end of this season.

Voronin, failed to shine in the Premier league with Liverpool, has found his form back in the Bundesliga, scoring 11 times.

With the football season relatively over in England, Rafa Benitez was hopeful of bolstering his transfer funds with the sales of his overrated players, hitting a snag.

"[The match against Karlsruhe on Saturday] was my last match as a Hertha Berlin player,"

"I want to wish the club and their fans all the best in the future." – Voronin, Die Welt, Setanta Sports

I remember he was once been told that his services would no longer required at Anfield. And Hertha has the option to make his loan deal permanent.

Anyone wants him for free?
