Preview: Fulham v Liverpool
Liverpool FC have been enjoying their short stays in the capital.
Already this season Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool FC men have celebrated a first ever victory at the Emirates Stadium and two impressive wins at Stamford Bridge.
September’s day to forget at Tottenham remains the only blot on their copybook.
Liverpool FC return to London on Monday night with the glorious memories of last season’s trip to Craven Cottage still fresh.
Damien Duff looks doubtful for Fulham's Monday night game at Craven Cottage.
The Republic of Ireland international was forced off in the first half of their Europa League 1-0 defeat at FC Twente following a recurrence of a calf injury.
Mousa Dembele also limped off but could feature at Craven Cottage, while Clint Dempsey should return from a thigh complaint.
Bryan Ruiz comes back into contention after being cup-tied against former club Twente.
The loss of midfielder Lucas through long-term injury provoked a somewhat hysterical reaction at Anfield.
The Brazilian has developed into an excellent player, but his absence should not derail his team’s recent upsurge.
Expect Jay Spearing to rise to prominence as a replacement, while Maxi Rodriguez will look to build on last season’s Craven Cottage hat-trick.
Fulham may have to revert to a defensive formation or suffer the consequences of an open contest as they did in their last meeting with the Merseysiders.

Rumour Mill: Liverpool wants 21-year-old Dutch as Lucas replacement
But with Lucas sustaining damage to his knee during 2-0 win over Chelsea in the Carling Cup, Kenny Dalglish’s hand looks like being forced much sooner than expected. The club announced the defensive midfielder will be ruled out for the remainder of the season.
Liverpool have been alarmed by the loss and have thus far only revoked the loan clause of Jonjo Shelvey to bring the player back to Anfield. However, Shelvey is clearly not a player in the mould of Lucas and was excelling in his short spell with the Tangerines in a more attacking role.
Leroy Fer only joined FC Twente during the summer, following three seasons with Feyenoord, in which he established himself as vice-captain and earned a call up to the Dutch national team.
It's thought a bid in the region of around £10 million would be enough secure his services, and with Fer being at home anywhere in the back four as well as defensive midfield, he would provide manager Dalglish with plenty of options.

Carling Cup Semi-Final Draw
Liverpool will play Manchester City in the two legged semi-final of the Carling Cup.
The first leg, which will take place at the Etihad Stadium is scheduled to take place in the week commencing January 9, 2012, with the return at Anfield the week beginning January 23.

The other tie is an all Championship affair between Crystal Palace and Cardiff City.

Carling Cup: Liverpool stormed into the last four
Liverpool cruised into the semi-finals of the Carling Cup courtesy of a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
Andy Carroll had earlier missed a first-half penalty, but the Reds doubled their advantage four minutes later with Bellamy again the provider as this time his dangerous free-kick was powerfully headed home for a first senior goal by Martin Kelly.
An injury to Lucas Leiva was the only sour note on a night to savour for Liverpool, whose quest to reach a first final since 2007 remains firmly on track.
With the final whistle against Manchester City having been blown just 50 hours earlier, Kenny Dalglish opted to make seven changes to the side he fielded at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool 1-1 Manchester City Match Report
The fixtures don’t come any tougher than playing against pace setters Manchester City. City remain unbeaten so far this season going into this match and have been scoring goals for fun in the league. But Liverpool was on a decent run of form too, remaining unbeaten in nine games, and with a superb victory last time out last Sunday at Chelsea.
THE TEAM
Kenny made two changes from the team that won at Chelsea last Sunday with Downing and Henderson coming back into the side at the expense of Bellamy and Maxi. Bellamy was left out due to the tragic news earlier in the day of the death of his friend and international manager Gary Speed. Maxi was just unlucky to be left out especially after scoring at Chelsea.
THE MATCH
This eagerly awaited clash was paled into comparison by the tragic news of the death of the much liked and respected Welsh manager Gary Speed who died earlier in the day at the age of 42. A minutes silence was observed before kick-off in respect of the very talented manager, and also for the passing of Liverpool’s reserve goalkeeper Brad Jones’s son who died last weekend at the age of 5 after losing his battle with leukaemia.
Once the football got started it was City who started the livelier side and in the 6th minute Richards shot over after a good turn. But then Kompany was booked for a late challenge on Suarez as the City defender let Suarez know that he was in for a tough afternoon.
A slack back pass by Enrique almost cost Liverpool dear as Aguero raced clear only to be thwarted by the alert Reina as he came racing out of his box to block the striker.
But then the visitors took the lead in the 31st minute when Kompany headed a Silva corner just inside Reina’s far post followed by wild celebrations at the away supporters section of the ground. But their celebrations were short lived when within a minute Adam tried his luck from 30 yards only to see his effort deflect off Lescott and into the net with Hart wrong footed.
This goal galvanised the home side and Adam almost gave them the lead but for a great save from the right foot of Hart as he looked to be going the wrong way. Glen Johnson saw a curling effort just miss the far post as Liverpool looked for a second goal. But City almost scored right on the half-time whistle with a lightning break which ended with Reina making a good save at his near post.
Liverpool started the second half on the front foot and Kuyt was unlucky with a header from a deflected Downing cross. Mancini brought on Balotelli for Nasri as he saw his side starting to struggle, but it was Liverpool who continued to threaten and Hart had to make another terrific save from a bouncing Downing effort. Then Lescott just managed to clear from Kuyt during a goal line scramble.
City were reduced to 10 men for the last 10 minutes when substitute Balotelli saw a second yellow after appearing to elbow Skrtel. Dalglish responded by bringing on Carroll for the remaining minutes as he looked for the win. But City almost stole a winner but for good goalkeeping from Reina allowing defenders to get back on the line to clear the danger through Skrtel.
But then in stoppage time Carroll produced a powerful header which looked goal bound only to thwarted by Joe Hart at full stretch, the rebound fell to Suarez who’s shot was superbly saved again by Hart at his near post, the follow up effort from Downing was blazed over, and City held on for a point in their toughest test so far in the league.
SUMMARY
A superb match by two heavyweights, it was a pity but very understandable that Bellamy was left out for this one, and I believe Downing was brought in for Maxi because Downing has a bit more pace to thwart the danger of Richards marauding forward. City started well and had us under pressure in the early stages and I thought Reina was a bit fortunate when he blocked Aguero after Enrique’s poor pass, it looked like the ball struck his arm. It was great to see us respond so quickly from going behind although it was rather fortunate the way we equalised. But as the game wore on the stronger we got and Adam and Lucas were superb once again, with our defence handling the quality of the City attacking threat very well. Agger and Skrtel played superbly, with Reina making some vital saves. Johnson was a threat going forward and Enrique and Downing linked up to great effect down the left. Kuyt worked his socks off as per usual but Suarez was left a bit isolated at times and given some rough treatment. I was a bit disappointed with Henderson, the game seemed to pass him by. We were a bit unlucky not to win the match as we had the better chances, but I would have taken a draw before the match and I was proud of the performance against a very strong City side.
Man Of The Match – Lucas – his best game yet, he was everywhere, breaking up City attacks, starting attacks, his passing was superb, never gave a ball away and covered every blade of grass.

Rumour Mill: Liverpool pondering £20M move for Brazilian whizkid
January transfer window has been fast approaching, the press rumour mill are starting to warm up again with reports of possible transfer targets from the Premier League’s big-spenders.
As usual, Liverpool are likely to be linked to host of names, and have already been rumoured to be targeting Michel Bastos, Carlos Tevez and Seydou Keita.
Another player Kenny Dalglish is said to be interested in is Sao Paulo’s Brazilian midfielder Lucas, full name Lucas Rodrigues Moura da Silva. According to reports, the Reds are prepared to offer £20 million for the 19-year-old, who is also a target for Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
Is he worth £20 million? After spending so much on recruiting young talents in the last transfer window with the likes of Jordan Henderson, Sebastion Coates and Andy Carroll, Fenway Sports Group shown they are willing to splash out big funds yet again on youngsters with potential.

Preview: Liverpool v Manchester City
Liverpool 2-1 win over Chelsea vaulted them into the top four of the Premier League table, but their title run does not get any easier as they host the league leaders Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.
City is coming off a disappointing 2-1 loss to Serie A side Napoli on Tuesday, but in the Premier League, they are on fire.
City has won their last six league games and destroyed Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford. Liverpool will have an opportunity to prove they are again among England's elite on Saturday when they host one of the most talented teams in the world.
Match facts
Manchester City have only won one of their last 12 Premier League games against Liverpool (W1 D5 L6).
The Citizens haven’t won at Anfield in their last eight Premier League visits (D2 L6).
Andy Carroll has scored four goals in five Premier League games against Manchester City.
Man City have now scored two or more goals in each of their last 14 Premier League games, a record for the division.
Sergio Aguero has 10 goals in 11 Premier League appearances this season.

Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool Match Report
THE TEAM
Kenny made three changes to his side with Bellamy, Kuyt and Maxi making his first league start of the season, Andy Carroll had to settle for a place on the bench alongside summer signings Downing and Jordan Henderson, the fit again Jamie Carragher was also named as a substitute. Former Liverpool favourites Meireles and Torres were also named as substitutes for Chelsea.
THE MATCH
Liverpool started on the attack with Maxi making two good early runs. Chelsea reacted with Mata volleying dangerously across goal. Then Mikel fired over from 25 yards.
Liverpool were looking dangerous on the attack and Bellamy combined well with Suarez but Cech thwarted them. Drogba looked to have scored from a free-kick but the ball rippled the net from behind.
The next chance came when Kuyt dispossessed Terry before Suarez failed to find Bellamy and Maxi at the back post. But then in the 34th minute Liverpool broke the deadlock when Adam dispossessed Mikel before Bellamy took over, executing a one-two with Suarez before finding Maxi on the edge of the 6 yard box who finished clinically before celebrating in front of the jubilant travelling support.
Liverpool almost made it two when Lucas sent Suarez clear but his attempted cross deflected off Luiz into the side netting.
Liverpool maybe felt they should have had more than a one goal lead after their superb first half performance. Chelsea made one change at the break with Sturridge replacing Mikel.
Chelsea started the second half with intent and Drogba saw an effort bend over. Then Mata danced into the box before Skrtel ushered away the danger. But the game had changed and Liverpool were struggling to get forward now and Chelsea got their reward with the equaliser when Sturridge beat Reina from close range from a scuffed Malouda shot.
Seconds later Reina pulled off the save of the match from a glancing header by Ivanovic. Dalglish brought on Henderson for Bellamy as he tried to strengthen the midfield that was starting to struggle to stem the Chelsea tide.
The change did seem to make a difference although Liverpool were still not threatening the Chelsea goal. Malouda had a great chance in the 75th minute but he volleyed wide from close range. Then a great run down the right by Henderson ended up with Kuyt firing just wide.
Just as it looked like the match would end a draw, Adam sprayed a pass out to the right to Johnson who skinned Cole before racing into the penalty area and then superbly slotted a left foot shot past the helpless Cech. Liverpool held out for the remaining minutes to record an important win.
SUMMARY
Surprised to see Maxi come back into the side, but what a masterstroke, with the Argentine scoring the first goal. I was also pleased to see Bellamy and Kuyt start the match with their work rate and pace. Liverpool played superb especially in the first half with their pressing game and the way the team continued to work for each other when under pressure in the second half was tremendous. The defence was resilient and Lucas and Adam combined brilliantly in the midfield with Kuyt tireless as ever and Bellamy was always a threat and was brilliant at the first goal. Suarez caused the Chelsea defence all sorts of problems, but overall it was a great team performance and a deserved victory.
Man Of The Match – Adam – best performance this season, passed superbly and worked his socks off, played a crucial part in both goals.

Rumour Mill: Liverpool planning January raid on Swansea winger
Liverpool are believed to be preparing to make a shock bid for Swansea City's Nathan Dyer after the winger's impressive performances in recent weeks caught the attention of manager Kenny Dalglish.
Kenny Dalglish is keen to bring in more width to the right side of his midfield and currently uses the services of Jordan Henderson and Dirk Kuyt to fill that role, neither being a natural selection for the role. The Liverpool boss has scouted Dyer this season and is said to be impressed by the former Southampton man has taken to life in the English top tier.
Liverpool boss is reported to be keen on bringing balance to Liverpool's team with pace and width on the right and he has identified Dyer as the man to offer that.
Dalglish has personally scouted the player already this season and saw him up close when Swansea earned a 0-0 draw at Anfield earlier this month.
Dyer was again impressive as the Swans lost narrowly at home to Manchester United on Saturday.
However, Dalglish may have to move quickly if he is to secure his services, with both Everton and Newcastle also said to be keen on making a bid.

Suarez Being Victimised
Luis Suarez has been a terrific signing for Liverpool, what an impact he’s had. The supporters love him, Torres and the absent Gerrard have been virtually forgotten about.
I remember the great sense of loss and despair I felt when the news broke of Torres leaving us, although I knew Suarez was coming to us I was so gutted to think that no player could replace Torres. How wrong I was, Suarez has lit up Anfield so many times with his mesmerising skills and his never stop running work ethic.
OK so far he has not been as clinical in front of goal as Torres but he has brought so much more to the team that the supporters appreciate.
The first I knew of him was in the last World Cup where I thought he was a real pest of a player, constantly niggling away at defenders but with great ability, and I was left hoping that somehow we could sign him and I was so pleased when we did as I thought there would be so much competition for his signature.
Suarez is one of those types of players that you love if he is in your team but you would hate him if he is playing against you, a bit like what I thought about Paul Ince. Suarez is loved at Liverpool but already he is being victimised by other teams and even referees.
We have had people making comments about him after matches which is going against him and giving him an unfair reputation, like when Paul Scharner commented on him going down too easy after our win against West Brom, when the following week he got no protection from the referee at home to Norwich when he was kicked all over the park.
But the start of the conspiracy came from who else but Sir Alex when he spoke about Suarez diving all over the place, after our 1-1 draw against United, and I’m sure he was the instigator in making Evra accuse Suarez of racial abuse.
The FA are now charging Suarez and he could now find himself with at least a 6 match ban that would hurt us deeply. In my view its Sir Alex and his fear of Liverpool’s resurgence that has brought him to delve deep into his large book of “dirty tricks” which has made him so “great” and well respected over the years.
The FA also backing his team once again, with the charge against Suarez, where little, or no evidence to back up the claim. It will be interesting to see if the England Captain receives the same punishment, I think not, the FA will show hypocrisy and racism by hammering a foreigner and let the Englishman off the hook.
I just hope that Suarez is not driven out of our club through this “witch hunt” that could drive him from our shores as he must have a strong feeling of injustice and believe he is being victimised for doing nothing more than giving his all in every game.
Luis Suarez you have the backing of all the Liverpool supporters, we just can’t get enough.

Racism row: FA charged Suarez and Dalglish defends him
Liverpool FC received notification from the Football Association of their decision to charge Luis Suarez and will take time to properly review the documentation which has been sent to them.
They will discuss the matter fully with him when he returns from international duty, but he will plead not guilty to the charge and they expect him to request a personal hearing.
Luis remains determined to clear his name of the allegation made against him by Patrice Evra.
Liverpool FC remain fully supportive of Luis in this matter.

Rumour Mill: Liverpool planning January bid for £15M Lyon winger
Liverpool has been obsessed with left-footed players recently. There are a host of left-footed already in the squad, Adam, Enrique, Downing, Agger to name a few.
The 28 year-old winger has been a key member of the Lyon team in the three years he has been at the club following, his €18 million move from Lille in 2009.
But Bastos has never hid his desire to move one of Europe’s major leagues and he may jump at the opportunity to move to the Premier League, if Liverpool come knocking.
The Brazilian international has been linked to many clubs across Europe over the last 12 months or so, with Juventus, Barcelona and Manchester United among the teams rumoured to have been interested in signing him.
Bastos, who has been capped 10 times by Brazil and featured in every game at the 2010 World Cup, is also able to operate as a left-back, as he has done on every occasion he has played for Brazil, but he is a lot more dangerous as a winger.
Liverpool know that Lyon will be reluctant to sell one of their prized assets but they will test the French team’s resolve with an offer of £15 million, in an attempt to beat off renewed interest from Barcelona.
If this rumour are to be believed, Dalglish would want to put more pressure on Downing to perform to his best and create more competition for the left-wing position.

Make or Break Time
The next couple of weeks are going to be very important for Liverpool with two games away to Chelsea, one in the League and one in the Carling Cup, and a home match against Manchester City sandwiched in between. Liverpool need to keep picking up points to continue in their quest for a top four place, and the cup tie will also be very important for the club as Liverpool are desperate for silverware after a barren spell.
The cup tie away to Chelsea comes less than 48 hours after the Manchester City match and Dalglish has expressed his anger at the date of the fixture and has threatened to play a second string team against Chelsea. I just wonder if the fixture would have been changed if it was Manchester United that was in our position, I’m sure the authorities would have bent over for Fergie.
I just have a feeling that these three matches will shape our season, if we can come away with decent results in these matches then I think we will kick on and have a really good season. City and Chelsea are two of the strongest sides in the league so it is going to be a great test for us, and it will let us see how we measure up.
In my view Liverpool have nothing to fear in these matches as we have a real attacking threat now and we are also looking solid at the back now. Chelsea look good going forward but they do look dodgy defensively and are losing quite a few goals.
City are flying right now, but I think the players and supporters will be really up for it at Anfield and I can see us beating them on our own patch. Our squad is looking healthy and Carragher and Gerrard should be back for these matches too, which will be a real boost.
I would love to see us getting to a cup semi-final but I think Kenny will have to play his best team to win the cup tie with Chelsea, and it doesn’t look like he is going to do that, which is a shame, although we have a good squad and some great youngsters that may surprise Chelsea.
I can’t wait for these games and this international break has just been so frustrating as we have had to wait two weeks between matches. Hopefully everyone reports back fully fit after these matches as Kenny will need options over the coming weeks.
So exciting times for Liverpool supporters and I have confidence that we will do well in these games setting us up for the remainder of the season and giving other teams something to think about.

Liverpool will not selling their Anfield naming rights
The Magpies joined the increasing number of clubs who have renamed their stadiums by dumping their renowned "St James Park" for "Sports Direct Arena".
Arsenal and Manchester City are among the top clubs who have made the switch as the lucrative sponsorship deals proved too tempting to turn down.
But Ayre insists Liverpool will not go down that road due to the history and tradition of Anfield.
"We have no intention of exploring naming rights for Anfield," he was quoted as saying in The Daily Mirror.
"It has been a name deeply ingrained in our ground and our club for more than 100 years and I can't imagine any Liverpool fan calling the current stadium anything else.
"That's different in a new stadium as it's a new start and a new proposition, and we are actively talking to potential naming partners for a new stadium [if that happens], but we have never considered renaming our spiritual home of Anfield."

Racism row: One month past and still no ending
There has been a latest twist in the racial saga that blew up between Manchester United's Patrice Evra and Liverpool's Luis Suarez.
The Frenchman had accused the striker of using racist language during a 1-1 draw at Anfield on 15 October, and after a long drawn saga that has lasted a month, the English Football Association have plans to charge the Liverpool star for misconduct.
However, a new twist has emerged, as Evra, who has accused Suarez of uttering a derivative of "negro" at least "ten times", according to reports in the Guardian, has been informed that he may find it tough to prove his allegations.
This is because of a counter-argument that certain variations of the word are not deemed offensive where Suarez grew up, in Uruguay.
It has been argued that the word 'Negrito', which Suarez has said he used, has no derogatory meaning, and is used somewhat as a term of endearment, often in the same way you would call a friend 'pal', or 'mate' in conversation.
Recently Dani Pacheco, a Liverpool player on loan at Rayo Vallecano, sent to Barcelona's Thiago Alcântara a message via Twitter on Friday, which read: "Negrito, enjoy yourself ..."
Suarez has been backed by Liverpool and repeatedly protested his innocence, saying last week what he said was just a "way of expressing myself. I called him something his team-mates at Manchester call him, and even they were surprised by his reaction."
If Patrice Evra are a gentleman and sportsman-liked footballer, he should be the one who issuing the apologizes to the FA and Suarez over this farce.

International Break: Suarez net four for Uruguay
Luis Suarez declared himself 'very happy' after scoring all four goals in a 4-0 win over Chile to help Uruguay stay top of the South American World Cup qualifying group.
Our No.7 became the first player to fire four in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier since Brazil's Romario in October 2000.
He hit two in three minutes just before the break, including a stunning low drill with his left foot from 25 yards.
Two more followed after half-time before Suarez went home with the match ball.

Balague shed lights on David Villa
Liverpool target David Villa will not be leaving Barcelona insists Guillem Balague.
Reports linking Liverpool with a shock move for Barcelona striker David Villa have been rubbished by SkySports' Spanish correspondent Guillem Balague, who took to his website to comment on the speculation.
According to Valencia-based paper Superdeporte, the 29-year-old Spaniard is unhappy at the Camp Nou because of the problems he is having playing alongside Lionel Messi.
“It's important we put David Villa's circumstances at Barcelona into context.
“First of all, yes, I do believe that there is most definitely something to the notion that the footballing relationship between Messi and Villa is not quite as good as it could be.
“Villa hasn't been finding the back of the net as frequently as he has done in recent years. [But] at Barcelona, he is playing a very different role to that of a traditional number nine and he's sharing the attack with the best player in the world.
“The player knows he's at the club where he is most likely to win things and he has no intention of leaving.

Rumour Mill: David Villa to Liverpool?
Why suddenly Liverpool are looking to add more firepower upfront? The recent team performances in the league has lead to the media to suggest that the Reds forward-line which consist of Luis Suarez, Andy Carroll, Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy doesn’t provide enough firepower to Liverpool.
Spanish premier radio station Cadena SER has reported that the Spain's top marksman is rumoured to have had a bust-up with Lionel Messi and is said to be unhappy at the Nou Camp after the club hesitated on offering him a new contract following the signing of Alexis Sanchez in the summer.
But Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola has denied that Villa and Messi have fallen out.
“It is impossible to be an enemy of David, he is too nice a person.
“He is generous both in the way he plays football and also in his personal life. It is impossible not to get on well with him.”
Does Liverpool's recent home draws against Norwich and Swansea, enough to sanction such a panic? Dalglish may feel he needs more goals up front as he looks to re-establish the Reds in the Premier League's top four and with it qualification for the Champions League next season. But it’s the pressure on the manager to get Suarez and Carroll playing together could have leads to the Reds recent scoring droughts.
David Villa to Liverpool? And Barcelona won’t praised with its asset on the cheap – we are looking in the region on £33million price tag for the Spanish international striker. Although, John W. Henry and FSG would eager to invest on the playing squad but Dalglish need to sell before he can make that audacious move on Villa.

Racism row: Suarez is innocent until proven guilty
Luis Suarez wants an apology from Patrice Evra if he’s cleared of racially abusing the Manchester United defender.
The Liverpool striker has spoken out for the first time about the serious allegations made by Evra and is adamant the claims are untrue.
The Football Association launched an investigation following the 1-1 draw between the sides last month and met with Suarez at Melwood last week.
Both clubs are awaiting the FA’s findings but the Reds’ top scorer, who has the full backing of boss Kenny Dalglish, insists his conscience is clear.
Speaking to reporters following his arrival back home in Uruguay ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Chile.
“There are things that happen in football, things of the moment, which leave one feeling bad.
“Now it is necessary to hope that this topic is decided and then the Manchester player and I are going to have to clear things up.
“Depending on which way the judgement goes, one of us will have to apologise.
“The English federation is going to have to clarify it with him because there is no proof at all that I have said something racist to him.
"And I did not say it to him.“There were two parts of the argument, one in Spanish and the other one in English.
"I did not insult him, it was just my way of expressing myself.
“I called him something that his own companions of Manchester say to him.
“Moreover, even they themselves were surprised by his reaction.”

Rumour Mill: Liverpool making a shock move on City striker
This would be something of a surprise but perhaps there is a possibility that Liverpool are interested in snapping up the Argentine but one would imagine that such a move could be as much of a headache as a boost to their firepower.
Manchester City definitely want to sell the 27-year-old and would presumably prefer a permanent exit but it seems the likes of Corinthians are not willing to stump up the asking price for the former West Ham and Manchester United man. Tevez would be looking to secure first team football as soon as possible as if he continues to be without regular football then he may well be in danger of freezing himself out of national team action.
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has seen his side criticised in recent weeks for failing to find the target despite carving out numerous opportunities.
The Reds beat West Brom 2-0 at the weekend but it could have been more had the side taken their chances, while a 1-1 draw with Norwich at Anfield further highlighted Liverpool's lack of composure in front of goal plus the stalemate match with Swansea City last Saturday.
Dalglish managed to convince Mancini to part with striker Craig Bellamy over the summer and is reportedly contemplating bringing Tevez to Anfield.
Liverpool already have Bellamy, Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll available to play up front, but should the Reds be able to land Tevez on a short term loan deal then they would snap up the opportunity to have such a prolific striker at the club.
Whatever people may think of the Tevez as the man, Tevez as the player, he’s a very effective striking weapon. The Buenos Aires born striker has scored an impressive 53 goals from 80 City starts since his move to the club in July 2009.

Liverpool 0-0 Swansea City Match Report
Liverpool returned to Anfield for the visit of newly promoted Swansea City after their good away win at West Brom last weekend. Swansea have had a good start to the season after promotion, but have struggled away from home with only one point away from home. Liverpool have struggled to win matches at home this season, with three draws recorded so far this season. Liverpool have struggled against newly promoted sides in recent times , with Norwich getting a point just two weeks ago at Anfield, Liverpool would be hoping put this problem behind them with a home win and keep them in the chase for a Champions League place.
THE TEAM
Kenny kept the same team that won at the Hawthorns last week, which was no surprise to anyone, especially with Gerrard and Carragher still out injured . So Andy Carroll would start alongside Luis Suarez, which is what the Liverpool want to see mature. The unlucky Kuyt left on the bench once again.
THE MATCH
Liverpool started by putting Swansea under pressure early and they should have taken the lead in the 7th minute when Downing produced a superb low cross which found the onrushing Andy Carroll only 6 yards out but the big striker smashed his effort off the crossbar, letting the visitors off the hook.
Suarez and Downing came close with efforts soon after as it looked like just being a matter of time before Liverpool would take the lead. But Liverpool were almost stunned on the half hour mark when Danny Graham hooked an effort on goal which Reina had to make a good stop from.
Back came Liverpool and Suarez was unlucky with a powerful left foot strike which saw Vorm make an excellent save from, turning the shot round the base of the post. Downing volleyed over the bar from the resulting corner.
The game became more stretched as the half wore on with Swansea starting to gain more confidence from surviving the difficult start to the match. Both teams went in at the half scoreless with Liverpool once again thinking about missed chances.
Dalglish brought on Dirk Kuyt for the second half, replacing Henderson, with the hope of breaking the deadlock. But Liverpool continued to toil for the opener and Reina almost got caught out when Graham closed him down when receiving an Enrique pass back, but the Spaniard just managed to clear to safety.
The second half was becoming very difficult for Liverpool to sustain any pressure as Swansea’s growing confidence was showing in their passing game as they continued to play their way out of trouble and almost scored when Dyer struck a low 20 yard effort at Reina, which the stopper spilled but he reacted quickly to block Graham’s follow up.
With time ticking away Dalglish brought on Bellamy for Carroll to ignite a bit of pace with Liverpool rarely threatening the Swansea goal in the second half. With time running out Liverpool finally pressured the visitors’ goal with Kuyt having an effort blocked and Agger heading onto the roof of the net.
But Swansea could have won it late on but Gower skied Graham’s knock down from close range. Liverpool responded and thought they had scored the winner in the last couple of minutes when Kuyt found the net from an Agger knock down, but the celebrations were short lived as offside was given. Then in stoppage time Vorm superbly tipped over a Glen Johnson volley, earning the visitors a point and leaving Liverpool once again frustrated at home.
SUMMARY
I can’t complain about the team as I was glad to see Kenny keep a settled team after the good win last week, although I do like to see Kuyt in the side. Anyway, this had to be a win for Liverpool and the result is a massive blow for us, with massive games coming up against Chelsea and Man City I felt we couldn’t afford more dropped points at home. To be fair to Swansea they deserved their point and made it difficult for us, but we should be winning these games especially at home. We didn’t really play well although it could have been oh so different if Carroll had scored early on. But we have to be able to grind out results even when we are off form, as all the successful teams seem to do. The pleasing thing was another clean sheet and we are keeping our unbeaten run going but overall great disappointment in another frustrating day.

Loan Watch: Shelvey hat-trick for Blackpool
Jonjo Shelvey netted a hat-trick as Blackpool thrashed Leeds United 5-0 at Elland Road on Wednesday night.
The on-loan midfielder took his tally to five goals in six league games as Ian Holloway's side responded in fine style to Saturday's defeat to Burnley.
His first goal was a twice-taken penalty, he then rounded the goalkeeper for the second and sealed the treble with a nice finish.

Rumour Mill: Liverpool chasing Polish striker
The Poland international has been in fine form this season - netting eight times in 15 games - and has been attracting admiring glances from further afield. Lewandowski joined Dortmund in the summer of 2010 and is under contract until 2014.
Liverpool manager, Kenny Dalglish has grown increasingly concerned by his side’s lacked of cutting edge in front of goal recently and is pondering the possibility of adding some extra firepower in the January transfer window.
Should the young forward move to Anfield, he is expected to be used as cover for Luis Suarez, while providing more direct competition for Andy Carroll.
Liverpool will be in duel with Chelsea for the Polish international striker as the Blues are also keen on him as the the player's agent confirmed to the press on Tuesday.

The Reds will be without skipper, Steven Gerrard through an ankle infection and vice-captain, Jamie Carragher still nursing a thigh strain. The squad looks healthy and Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish will be utilising the players available to him against the newly promoted outfit.
Liverpool came out of The Hawthorns unscathed with a two-nil victory. A similar lineup will be used at Anfield this Saturday. Dirk Kuyt was the unused substitute last weekend and we could see a surprise change in the lineup with Jordan Henderson making way for the Dutchman’s return.

The Swans emerged as winner in the last league match against 10-man Bolton. The game saw Joe Allen score his second goal in as many games after the midfielder had gone 37 games without finding the net prior to his strike at Wolves.
Summer signing Danny Graham had scored his fourth goal in as many games, his manager, Brendan Rodgers had nothing but praise after the frontman had come in for some criticism in the early part of the campaign.

The Liverpool Way
What a difference Kenny has made since his return back in January, it has been quite remarkable the transformation of the club’s fortunes. With superb backing from the new owners who gave Kenny the much needed finances to rebuild the threadbare squad, things at this great club are starting to go in the right direction.
No promises or shouting from the roof tops about Liverpool going to win this or win that or sign him or build a new stadium tomorrow. Everyone at Liverpool is pulling in the same direction and singing of the same hymn sheet, it is just like the good old days, when Liverpool went quietly about their business, collecting scores of silverware in the process.
Rome wasn’t built in a day and nobody at the club is promising instant success, and the supporters understand this as well. If success does come then this season then the club will just take it in their stride and not blow their trumpet about it like other clubs do. There is a great sense of purpose and sense of daily improvement at the club from on the park to the hierarchy.
Kenny brought in a lot of new faces in the summer and in my opinion this was needed as too many youngsters were asked to step up to the plate last season, maybe a bit too soon, although in no way did they look out of place as Liverpool have some great talent flourishing in the youth teams. But to ask youngsters to play week in week out at the highest level is a very big ask, so Kenny went out and brought some talented individuals in with great experience with the likes of Adam, Downing and Bellamy.
The squad now has quality in every position with competition for places in every position which is very important. Reina has Doni as back up and I saw him at Ibrox the other week and he looked very good. At right back we have Johnson, Kelly, Flanagan and Carragher who can all play there. On the left there is the impressive Enrique, Glen Johnson, Agger, Aurelio and young Jack Robinson who is a tremendous prospect. In the centre of defence we have Carragher, Skrtel, Agger, Wilson, Coates and we also have the option of Martin Kelly to play there also. On the left side of midfield we have Downing, Bellamy, Aurelio and Maxi who has been unlucky to miss out in so many matches this season. On the right side we have Henderson, Kuyt, Johnson and Downing and Gerrard can also be used there. The centre of midfield is very strong too with Lucas, Adam, Gerrard, Spearing and Henderson another option for the middle. Up front we have Suarez, Carroll, Kuyt, Bellamy and Gerrard can also be used higher up the park. So personally I am very pleased with the squad we have as we look to challenge for trophies and at least a top four place.
But what I like best about Liverpool over recent months is our style of play, we are now playing a far more attacking style of play compared to our defensive style that we have played over far too many years for my liking. Yes we have been losing more goals than we are used to and so far we have not scored near as many goals as we should have, but the amount of chances we are creating is superb and the goals will come. The football we are now watching is similar to the style of play Kenny had his team playing in his first stint as manager. The passion and work rate of the players is much better to see and the players look as if they are enjoying there football.
The new signings including the much maligned Andy Carroll are starting to gel and they will all be important players for us this season and for the future. So I am very pleased with the progress we have made over recent months and I think we will at least finish in the top four this season, with hopefully a trophy in the cabinet too. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season with continuation of the Liverpool Way.

Premier League big guns after Liverpool’s transfer target
Lille's academy director Jean-Michel Vandamme has claimed Chelsea are paying most attention to £40 million-rated youngster Eden Hazard.
In-demand Lille forward Eden Hazard has alerted clubs around Europe by admitting that he wants to leave the French champions at the end of the season.
Hazard, 20, has been strongly linked with Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea in the past - with other clubs in England and Spain also believed to have followed the Belgium international's progress intently.
Despite being tipped for a move abroad last summer Hazard decided to remain at Stade Lille-Metropole to experience Champions League football with his current club, but he has now made it clear that he wants a new challenge at the end of the current campaign.
Blues manager Andre-Villas Boas has been keen to introduce more youth and flair to his squad at Stamford Bridge, with Romelu Lukaku, Oriel Romeu, Juan Mata and Thibaut Courtois joining the club over the summer.
The Portuguese has already stated his admiration for Genk's Kevin De Bruyne, but it is Lille star Hazard who is currently attracting most attention around Europe. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Paris St. Germain are all believed to be pursuing the 20-year-old, but it is Chelsea who head the queue.
However the Ligue 1 outfit stood firm, knowing that another year with them would see his stock rise even further.
Hazard has also previously been linked with Real Madrid, and he boosted their hopes of negotiating a transfer by making it clear he has no intention of staying in Ligue 1 - despite the fact Qatari-backed Paris Saint Germain are reportedly prepared to pay around £35 million to secure his signature.
Hazard's agent has already revealed that Arsenal failed in their attempt to sign the playmaker during the summer transfer window.

Rumour Mill: Liverpool want Newcastle defender
Liverpool are eyeing up Newcastle's poodle-permed defensive tyrant Fabricio Coloccini and could make a new year move for the 29-year-old. And given the way their last January swoop for a Newcastle player worked out, who could blame them for attempting a repeat?
It is believed that director of football Damien Comolli personally scouted the 29-year-old Newcastle defender recently. The Argentine international will be out of contract at the end of the season. Liverpool can buy him outright in January or sign him to a pre-contract anytime after January 1st.
Coloccini has become one of the better defenders in the Premier League and Dalglish is looking to strengthen in that department now 33-year-old Jamie Carragher is officially at the veteran stage.
However, Dalglish is not afraid to spend to back his judgement and Newcastle could be pushed to sell if the offer is large enough or the player fancies the move.
Dalglish already has a handful of centre-halves in his squad, but is always on the look-out for improvement.
Newcastle would consider accepting a bid in the £6 million region. It would love to keep its star defender, after such a promising start to the current campaign. The Magpies are fourth in the league and dreaming of a place in one of next season's European competitions.

WBA 0-2 Liverpool Match Report
THE TEAM
The big team news regarding Liverpool was the absence of Gerrard and Carragher who had injuries, but better news for the travelling support was the news that Suarez was starting after shaking off a knock from Wednesday night. Glen Johnson came back into the side at right back with Enrique coming back into the side at left back, Agger partnered Skrtel in the middle of defence. The midfield saw Downing start on the left with Henderson on the right and Lucas partner Charlie Adam in the middle. Andy Carroll got another start up front alongside the form man, Suarez.
THE MATCH
Liverpool went on the offensive from the first whistle with Enrique splitting the home defence with a raking pass, but for once Suarez failed to control the ball when clean through. Moments later Suarez teed up Adam but his effort went well over.
Liverpool were asking all the questions and they took the lead in the 9th minute after Suarez was impeded in the box by Jerome Thomas, but the penalty was only given after referee Lee Mason noticed his assistant’s flag. The West Brom players protested the decision, but Charlie Adam kept his nerve to send Foster the wrong way from the spot and give the visitors a deserved lead.
Liverpool continued to press after taking the lead and were continuing to create chances and they thought they had won another penalty after a Carroll header struck the arm of a West Brom defender. Suarez seemed to be involved in everything and most of the chances were falling to the striker, but his luck in front of goal was deserting him, his best chance came when Skrtel teed up 6 yards out but his effort went high over the bar.
West Brom were not giving the Liverpool defence much trouble in the first half although Scharner saw his long-range effort well blocked by Skrtel. Liverpool scored a second on the stroke of half-time when a superb first time pass by Suarez sent Carroll clear, the big striker stabbed a low shot beyond the advancing Foster and into the net. The 2-0 score line was well deserved by the visitors.
West Brom almost pulled a goal back right at the start of the second half but Tchoyl saw his low shot just miss Reina’s far post. The home side were starting to have more possession as they tried to get back into the game but Liverpool were dangerous on the break and continued to create chances. Suarez had a few efforts on goal and he eventually saw an effort end up in the net only to be flagged offside.
Enrique saw a brilliant effort spectacularly saved by Foster as it looked like he would score his first goal for his new club. Andy Carroll had a stinging shot well saved by Foster as Carroll and Suarez showed glimpses of a blossoming partnership.
West Brom continued to press for a goal but they never really threatened Reina’s goal and Liverpool almost got the icing on the cake when Downing smashed a shot in injury time off Foster’s near post, but it was a very good performance from Liverpool and got them back to winning ways in the league.
SUMMARY
I thought this could be a tricky fixture for Liverpool especially with Carragher and Gerrard absent. But I do believe we have strength in depth now this season and Kenny still managed to field a very strong team. I have to say I expected more from West Brom but you can only beat the team you face and I thought Liverpool totally dominated the match. Reina was virtually redundant as Liverpool dictated the play away from home. This time last year we feared every away game but credit to Kenny and his coaching staff he has Liverpool taking the game to his opponents away from home, especially with sticking two up front. Stonewall penalty kick and the ref should have gave it himself with no need of help from his assistant. Great to see Carroll score and this could be the making of him, with glimpses of an understanding with Suarez in this match. Impressed with Lucas again in the middle of the park complimenting Adam and Enrique is superb at left back, but Suarez is unbelievable and is so important to Liverpool right now. Overall it was a great professional performance from Liverpool away from home.
Man Of The Match – Suarez- just for a change, well its getting so obvious now isn’t it, another superb game, amazing how he failed to score.

Carling Cup Round Five: Reds to face Chelsea
Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City will all be in the hat for the quarter-finals after the second batch of Carling Cup Fourth Round games. A seven-goal thriller at Ewood Park saw the game head into extra-time and Gael Givet scored in the final minute to give Blackburn a 4-3 victory over Newcastle. A topsy-turvy game at Goodison Park saw the match head into extra-time, Daniel Sturridge was the hero with a late goal. Luis Suarez was at the double against Stoke as Liverpool came from behind to win 2-1 at the Britannia. In the other game of the night, Manchester City showed their clinical edge once more as they beat Wolves 5-2 at Molineux.

Infection kept Liverpool skipper on the sideline
Gerrard had fluid drained from the ankle at a Liverpool hospital yesterday and the club are now awaiting to gauge the effect of that procedure.
There are fears, however, that the injury will force Gerrard out for a prolonged spell.
Confirmation of the recovery time is likely to arrive tomorrow, but there was a grim mood at Anfield as the captain received treatment.
Gerrard is understood to be distraught that what seemed to be an innocuous cut on his ankle, sustained in training last week, has developed into a potentially more serious problem.
The 31 year-old Liverpool stalwart has only recently returned to Premier League action after a six month absence due to an unrelated groin problem, and he was just regaining his full match fitness. He has endured a nightmarish few months, and is believed to be devastated at the prospect of a further prolonged absence.
This latest setback means Gerrard is certain to miss England's forthcoming friendlies with Spain and Sweden on Nov 12 and 15, games which manager Fabio Capello is using to assess his options for Euro 2012.
Liverpool were already eager for Gerrard to be used sparingly by the Italian due to his long absence from the previous injury, but Capello will now know there is no possibility the player will be available for selection.
That will be a source of immense frustration to Gerrard, who has not appeared for his country since the friendly defeat by France last November, but it is the injury’s impact on the player himself and Liverpool’s quest to regain a Champions League place which will be of greater concern for his club.
Much of the stress will be caused by the bewilderment about how and why the injury deteriorated so badly in the 24 hours before Liverpool’s 2-0 win at The Hawthorns.
Gerrard travelled with the rest of the Liverpool squad to the Midlands on Friday.
He was already in some discomfort due to the knock he sustained on the ankle, but it was anticipated it would heal quickly and he would be fit to face Roy Hodgson’s side.
Instead, it got worse and on Saturday morning it was clear he would not be fit for selection and Gerrard returned to Merseyside for treatment.
The latest setback has come in the midst of key period of the season.
Liverpool play Swansea in the Premier League next weekend and have high-profile fixtures with Chelsea and Manchester City following the international break, as well as a Carling Cup tie at Stamford Bridge.
Manager Kenny Dalglish is as concerned as Gerrard to establish the full extent of the damage.
He had hoped on Saturday it would only be a minor knock and the player would be fit within a week.
