Is Dann the right man for Liverpool?

According to the press, Liverpool FC has made enquiries to Birmingham City on the availability of Scott Dann. Beside, the 24-year-old England defender, Liverpool has been linked with numerous centre-backs in the last two months.

Scott Dann Dann was a player who was definitely tipped to be heading to the Premiership after Birmingham City were relegated at the end of last season.

In the media, he was quoted £8million but I’m doubted it that Birmingham would let him got at that figure. He is young and a British player, the Blues will want a piece of the pies. The Blues will be holding out for a fee in the region of £12million.

Kenny Dalglish already have defensive woes four days before the new season kick-off with Martin Skrtel sidelined on calf-injury, Glen Johnson picked up a hamstring strain during the pre-season and Daniel Ayala on the verge of moving to either Swansea or Hull City in the coming week. Things are not looking so good at the back for Liverpool.

Although, I’m impressed with Scott Dann when he performed for Birmingham last season. If Liverpool do make a serious bid for him, he would provide a good quality cover and put Carragher, Agger, Kyrgiakos, Wilson and Skrtel more competition for the centre-back slot.

I would expect Birmingham City to invite a bidding war between Liverpool and Arsenal as the Gunners are looking for a centre-back for the injured Laurent Koscielny.

Is Scott Dann, the right man to marshal Liverpool defence next season? Leave your thoughts on the comment box below.

Swans tempting Liverpool defender from the Tigers

With the lure of Premier League football, Swansea City are in talks with Liverpool over the possible transfer of defender Daniel Ayala.

Liverpool accepted Hull's bid for Ayala on Saturday, paving the way for the 20-year-old to discuss personal terms with the Championship club.

Daniel Ayala But Swansea are planning their own bid for the Spaniard, who has made four appearances for Liverpool since making his debut at White Hart Lane in 2009.

Ayala impressed during a 12-game loan spell at Hull last season.

He ended the season on loan at Derby County, and played in the 2-1 home win over Swansea in March.

Liverpool signed Ayala from Seville in 2007 but the Spain Under-21 international has failed to establish himself in the first team at Anfield.

Swansea are keen to increase their defensive options as they prepare for their debut season in the Premier League.

Tweets from Liverpool fullback hints at Anfield exit

Twitter is such a great tools for spreading out news by footballers. Recent uproars at St. James’ Park has landed Joey Barton and Jose Enrique in troubles with their club.

tweet1 tweet2 Now, two tweets from Liverpool Argentinean fullback, Emiliano Insua has hinted that his future could lie away from Anfield next season.

Tweet 1 and tweet 2.

The Argentina international was on loan at Galatasaray last year but returned to Liverpool this pre-season. However, following appearances in the first team in Asia and Turkey, Insua was dropped to a reserve XI for a recent friendly with Tranmere.

If Insua leaves Anfield, Kenny Dalglish’s side will have just one recognised left-back in Fabio Aurelio – although the Reds have been linked with a move for Newcastle’s Jose Enrique.

Pre-season: Liverpool 2-0 Valencia

Andy Carroll was on target as Liverpool concluded their pre-season programme with a 2-0 win against Valencia on Saturday evening.

The No.9 fired in at the second attempt after just six minutes before substitute Dirk Kuyt bundled in a late clincher as Kenny Dalglish's side warmed up for next week's curtain-raiser with Sunderland in style.

The Reds played some vibrant attacking football at times and the added bonus of a clean sheet will have left the squad buoyed heading into 2011-12.

On what began as a sunny afternoon in L4, Fabio Aurelio's first appearance since May was the subject of the pre-match natter as a trio of the club's new recruits were also handed their first Anfield experience in a red shirt.

Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson were all starters as the boss looked to use the encounter as a dress rehearsal for the showdown with the Black Cats.

The visitors arrived in the early stages of their preparations for 2011-12 and the opportunity was there for Liverpool to make a fast start.

An exquisite flick from Alberto Aquilani had the Kop purring early doors before Downing and Henderson combined to tee up an almighty goalmouth melee that Los Che just about survived.

Next it was Aurelio's run and pass that released Downing once again but the winger's teasing, low cross just evaded Carroll in the centre.

There was a definite feeling in the air that Liverpool weren't far off an opener and on six minutes they were handed the initiative.

David Albelda under hit a woeful back pass allowing Carroll to rampage in on goal. The England forward saw his first shot rebound back off the post via Diego Alves's fingertips and had to follow in to tuck home from a tight angle.

It was the perfect start for King Kenny and co but there joy was soured just moments later when Glen Johnson was forced off through injury.

The visitors had barely set foot in the Reds half at the quarter of an hour mark but finally gave a warning of their quality on the break when Mehmet Topal came close to diverting a left-wing cross beyond Pepe Reina.

Liverpool responded and Henderson let fly with a low effort from distance before Carroll once again took advantage of a defensive error, but this time his shot was too tame to beat Alves.

The frustration seemed to get the better of the England man who responded by launching into a late challenge on Adil Rami that may well have resulted in more than a yellow card in a competitive encounter.
