Reds defender keen to make the switch back to Italy

The Italian international fullback that Liverpool bought from Udinese last summer maybe heading back to Serie A soon. Andrea Dossena failed to live up to his expectation in English league are pondering a move to Juventus but Rafa Benitez hopes he’ll stay for another season according to Dossena’s agent, Roberto La Florio.

"We have spoken with Liverpool and with Benitez and we received confirmation that the club are keen on holding onto Dossena,"

"However, we all know what the market is like and when a certain offer comes along then negotiations open up.

"So far, neither we nor Liverpool have been presented with an offer but we did have contact with Juve last year.

"Dossena is fine in England. He would be happy to return, but under certain conditions. Juve are making their own evaluations and they will contact us if they are interested. We will wait." - Roberto La Florio, Sportal.

Rumours from the Italian press has suggested that David Trezeguet are willing to take a pay cut to join AS Roma. And what tickles me most are that Trezeguet being linked with a move to Anfield in a possible deal for Dossena.

Well, David has past his prime, 32-years old soon and does Rafa willing to gamble on him? Remember Fernando Morientes? Rafa may have keen to sign him on loan from Juve during 2006 campaign but what do you think about ‘Trezegol’ donning the red for us?

Your view: Alonso for Real?

Xabi Alonso

Real Madrid just confirmed the captures of Cristiano Ronaldo for a £80million world's record transfer fee. Real’s second signing after Kaka, has putting the alarm bell over the future of Xabi Alonso at Anfield yet again.

After splashing a staggering £136million on Kaka and Ronaldo, Real Madrid do have the resources to launch another big money signing. Liverpool heavily in debt, could the board resist the £30million offer for Alonso?

So in the latest poll on Red's Fury™, I ask for your thoughts on the prospect of selling Xabi. Vote below!

Should Liverpool let Alonso go?

Javier Mascherano going nowhere

Liverpool FC and Rafael Benitez has moved in to dismissed the speculation surrounding Javier Mascherano moving away this summer.

"Mascherano has no price,"

"Barcelona could not afford to match his value to Liverpool Football Club.
"We do not want to sell and Javier is very happy here.

"I have spoken to Javier two or three times this summer – the last time was only last week – and he was very happy, very positive.

"He gave me the private number of his agent, Walter Tamer, and again the conversation was very positive and was all about football.

"Walter told me that two clubs with big, big names were asking after Mascherano – and I told him to forget it, that Javier was happy in Liverpool and he was not for sale.

"So I was surprised to see the agent's comments today.

"He has a long contract and any club can forget about bidding for him. They can offer £40m or even £50m, we don’t want to sell." – Rafa Benitez, Liverpoolfc.tv.

While, Rafa will definitely keeping Mascherano at Anfield but the future of a Spaniard are still hanging in the balance. After Manchester United agreed to sell their prized asset to Real Madrid last Thursday, Alonso will be featured in Florentino Perez’s wish-list of building another era of Galactico.

I expect Liverpool wouldn’t accept nothing less than £30million for Alonso’s fee.

Should Liverpool let Alonso go to Real Madrid? Have your say here.

Agent comment lands Liverpool midfielder in trouble

A comment made from Walter Tamer on Catalan radio station RAC-1 has angered Liverpool’s manager, Rafa Benitez as he contempt to keep his squad together for next season.

"If a club like Barcelona want to bring you into their ranks after having completed such a brilliant season and having won everything, obviously as a player you are going to say 'Yes, I want to play there'.

"It is an honour for Javier that a club like Barca pay such close attention to him, especially after the incredible season they had. I believe that a transfer would be feasible. If Barca really want him, he will sign for them.

"He would have a very easy job at Barca. Sometimes we talk and joke that the only thing he has to do is run, rob the ball, and pass it on to all the superstars in front of him."

"What if Xabi Alonso also leaves? Surely, Rafa Benitez would not want to have both his central midfielders go. It will be difficult, although Xabi's future does not depend on Mascherano and vice-versa,"

"The transaction would certainly happen, but the first to leave will have more options." – Mascherano’s agent, RAC-1.

Aren’t we fed-up with these kind of rumours? First, Xabi Alonso linked with a move to Real Madrid and now Javier Mascherano to Barcelona.

Argentine ace linked to Liverpool dismissed

Rafael Benitez was furious at the the papers’ claimed Liverpool lodged a bid for Napoli’s Ezequiel Lavezzi.

"We never contacted Lavezzi and we have no intention of doing so,"

"We want to put a stop to these rumours." – Rafa Benitez, Daily Mail.

Ezequiel Lavezzi Now this says it all. Liverpool weren’t shopping for this Argentine ace, while more headache for Rafa to dealt with as Barcelona just made a ludicrous claims that our midfield ‘monster’ would not pass up the opportunity to join them.

More on this paper’s talk later. Unbelievable!

Liverpool to sell Alonso to the highest bidder

We have heard so many times Rafa has stressed in his interviews about his ‘very’ intension of keeping the Liverpool ‘spine’ intact. But the interest from Real Madrid and the money-spender Manchester City on Xabi Alonso just don’t take the heed.

Well, the press these days are very difficult to trust. I mean, how bad are the relationship between Rafa and Xabi at this point? We all know that Rafa made a mistake and want to forced Xabi out of Anfield last summer but that didn't happened.

Will Rafa going make the very same mistake twice? The papers saying Liverpool has slapped a £30million price tag on Alonso and whoever pay more than the asking price gets Xabi. It is interesting to see Real will pay over the odds and prise Alonso from us. With £30million, there could be only one thing on Rafa’s mind, swooping for David Silva from Valencia.

I rather have them both at Anfield rather than seeing one of them make way for the other. On the other hand, City just after snaring Barry under our nose will try they luck in luring Alonso to the Eastlands.

I do hope Liverpool, Rafa and Alonso settle their differences once and for all. These are the story made-up to unsettle the true contender for the league title. I will have faith in Xabi that he’ll stay with us next season.

Liverpool defender hands in transfer request

Andrea Dossena After becoming the first Italian to join Liverpool Football Club last season. Andrea Dossena are ready to return to his native country.

Life is hard for him in the Premier League and to make matter worst, he’s downed in the pecking order with both Aurelio and Insua ahead of him.

“Before coming back to Italy I talked to Benitez and explained to him my doubts.

“I told him I wanted to leave. He is an exceptional person and understood my problem.

“He told me that if they receive an offer that satisfies both the club and me, he will take it into consideration and try to facilitate my transfer.

“I would run to Juve. They showed interest in me last year, but then Liverpool stepped in and wrapped things up in less than an hour.

“Of course I would accept an offer. You’re talking about one of the biggest clubs in Europe.” – Andrea Dossena.

Since his £7million switch from Udinese last summer and made just 12 appearances for the Reds. There are no major contribution from the Italian international who capped seven times for Italy apart from his goals again Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Rafa would love to recoup around £6million from Dossena transfer and Juventus is reportedly keen to sign the left-back.
