Liverpool FC has confirmed that they are in talks with Greek side, Olympiacos over the sale of winger Albert Reira.
Reira played no part in Wednesday night’s friendly draw with Grasshoppers as discussions has been on-going with the Greek outfit. Riera had failed to establish himself as a first-team regular at Anfield and was left out of Spain's winning World Cup squad, which included Liverpool teammates Fernando Torres and Pepe Reina.
Olympiakos will play in this season's Europa League after finishing second behind Panathinaikos in the Greek league.
"Albert Riera did not play as a precaution because negotiations are ongoing with Olympiacos." Hodgson told www.liverpoolfc.tv
Riera signed from Espanyol in August 2008 and has scored five goals in 56 appearances.
The deal are reported to be finalised yesterday with Olympiacos agreeing a fee in the region of £4.2million for the Spaniard’s service.
